This is a part of the Community and World Concerns Committee of Ayr Presbytery.
There is a World Mission Council in our national headquarters in Edinburgh.
In New Cumnock Parish Church, we have a World Church Team whose aims are
a) to help the congregation to become more aware of the world-wide family of Jesus Christ to which we all belong
b) to develop and encourage a mutual sharing locally, nationally and internationally to help congregations experience and share in God's mission here and with others in the World Church.
Mary Ritchie is the Convener of the Team and is our World Church representative. She receives World Mission correspondence from Ayr Presbytery and our headquarters in Edinburgh. Mary then informs the Team, the Minister and the congregation about current affairs within World Mission helping to stimulate interest in the life and witness of fellow Christians overseas. A section of the main Church Hall wall is devoted to the World Church. News is posted here and in the quarterly Church magazine. Used stamps are collected at the Church door and sent to Edinburgh, where, along with those from churches all over Scotland, they are used to fund different projects annually. The present one is for the provision of insecticide treated bednets in the community around Chogoria Hospital in Kenya. One of these bed nets can save the life of a child or vulnerable adult by reducing repeated malarial infections. |
We have only one missionary friend working overseas at the moment
| Pauline Devenish is a missionary in Thailand with the Worldwide Evangelisation Crusade International. |
Pauline visited our church on the 22nd of February 2006. There was a good turn out in the main hall when she gave a PowerPoint presentation of her work in Thailand. She stressed how much she appreciated our regular prayer back up. Her latest newsletter can be viewed on the World Mission notice board in the hall.

Our church does not have an official Mission Partner but we were delighted to meet the Rev. Matiya Nkhoma and his wife when they visited many of the congregations in Ayr Presbytery as Faithshare Partners

We heard about the life and witness of the Malawian Christians in the Livingstonia Synod of northern Malawi. It is hoped that this exciting link between Christians in Livingstonia Synod and Ayr Presbytery will blossom.
You can read about the proposed Malawi Partnership between Bandawe Presbytery in Northern Malawi and Ayr Presbytery in our Malawi Partnership page.
We hope that you are all collecting Change For Malawi now!
